Denial

Patterned footfalls
connect with sand
fusing it into glass
... shards flowing
through time.

Tempered kings
awaken and cringe,

Recognized only in DNA,
put fingers to keys,
and rearrange;

Then they, the kings,
return to denial
and death shadows
and things.
