Patina

Personal thoughts
certain distillates
of character
precipitates
becoming
third person

Not a whip
nor a will
rather
a Bobolink
on a sill
by newsprint
crumpled
ink stained
moldy
songs of old

Protecting
images on glass
where paper marbles
and tears
and sand disintegrates
'n rubs off ancient silver
from photographs, not permanent

Memories of
lives and
substance
energies would
be lost otherwise
no physical evidence
left behind
save patina
protecting time
Things forever held
and felt in the mind.
